St. Ursula is the popular patroness of Education in Europe even
today. Therefore the Ursuline sisters hold imparting education, as the paramount priority.  In the year 2000 Ursulines from Pune came to Neruvambram in   Kannur Diocese for the Pastoral work. They used to take tuition for the neighboring students of the locality. Seeing their skill in teaching people of the surrounding area came along with the Parish Priest to request the sisters to start a Nursery school for the children of the Parish.  In response to this St Ann’s Nursery came into existence in 2001 with 74 kids. Seeing the progress of the students in curricular as well as extra curricular activities the parents and the well-wishers insisted the sisters to continue with Std 1. But the sisters were not in a position to start a school over there since that was not in their Agenda. The people and the Parish Priest Fr .Sony Thomas S.J sent a memorandum to Rt.Rev Varghese Chakkalakal, Bishop of Kannur Diocese, highlighting the importance of English Education in that locality. The Bishop took up the issues very seriously and gave permission to start a Diocesan School in Neruvambram and asked the sisters to run the school.
